What are the characteristics of the British political system?
The British system is a constitutional monarchy, which is characterized by the monarch ruling without rule and parliament becoming the center. The constitutional monarchy greatly weakened the power of the king and ended the British feudal autocratic system. The central government and its core cabinet are the highest state administrative organs. The cabinet is composed of the party that holds the majority of seats in the parliament. After the parliamentary election, the king appoints the leader of the majority party in the parliament as prime minister and authorizes him to form a cabinet and approve the list of cabinet members proposed by him. The cabinet is the leadership core of the government, and its central figure is the cabinet prime minister. Traditionally, the Prime Minister also serves as the Chief Finance Minister of the Cabinet. In the early days of the cabinet, the prime minister was mostly a member of the aristocracy. Later, the prime minister was mostly a member of the House of Commons. For nearly a century, it has been customary for the Prime Minister to come only from the House of Commons. The Prime Minister is both the head of the executive and the leader of the majority party in parliament. He combines executive and legislative powers and controls the country's governance.
